On any given day, the jail has over 250 inmates. The chaplains provide bible studies, Sunday worship services, individual counseling, anger management classes, etc. About one half of the Chaplaincy Operating Budget is provided by the County. The remainder is dependent on churches and individuals. Donations have dropped substantially the past few years, and our savings are rapidly becoming depleted. Anyone who turns his or her life around because of what they learned through the Chaplaincy not only helps themselves, but also makes a positive change within their family and the community. Your donations would be greatly appreciated, one Sunday of the month there will be a special offering taken after the Worship service that will go to help fund the Jail Ministry. Please see the calendar for this date. If you need a receipt for your donation, please ask Dianne Goodrich, and she will provide one.
The church received at thank you letter from the Chautauqua County Jail Chaplains Committee for the generous gifts given to this ministry by the Mayville United Methodist Church this past year. The donations throughout the year have made a big difference in being able to balance their budget. Again THANK YOU!
