Q: Describe your family.
A: Wife Jan, and three grown girls living in the Buffalo area.  The oldest two, Jillian (Greg) and Lydia (Dan) have kids, so we are grandparents too.  The youngest, Carrie lives in our home in Amherst

Q: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I wanted to be a rich christian businessman.  That way I could give lots of money to cross cultural missions.

Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I grew up a missionary kid in Japan, and came back to America my senior year in high school.  I attended my senior year in Lancaster High school in the Buffalo area.

Q: What did you do for summer jobs as a teen?
A: I prepped school busses to be painted. We would tape and paper over the windows and lights, and sand down the body of the bus in preparation for repainting.  Getting egg that had baked on the exterior was the worst.

Q: What is your favorite Bible Verse?
A: Galatians 2:20.

Q: What is your favorite song?
A:Oh, that keeps changing.  I do like “Give Me Jesus” sung by Fernando Ortega.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Too many! I collect crosses, coins and books.  I like to exercise, play ping pong, chip carve, dye eggs, make pearl jewelry for my 4 girls, and watch movies.

Q: When did you join MUMC?
A: Actually, I have served as pastor here for a little more than 10 years.

Your Mini-Testimony:

I was raised a Christian by my parents, but it wasn’t until I was 12 that I asked my father to baptize me, and I wanted to declare my faith in Jesus as my Lord.  Through my high school years I became embarrassed by Jesus. It was in my freshman year in college that recommitted my heart and life to Jesus.  Graduating college I spent 5 years in cross-cultural missions work, primarily in Austria. By then God had worked on my life enough that I came back to the States, re-met Jan (who was to become my love and wife) and attended Asbury Theological Seminary.  I went on to join the (what was then the Western New York Conference of the United Methodist Church, and is now called the Upper New York Conference of the United Methodist Church) UMC and have served in western part of New York for the past 30+ years.
